Valeri Fesiuk – Chairman Elect of Supreme Hockey League
Thursday, 8 April 2010 saw a constituent meeting of the Administrative Board of a new Russian hockey entity, Supreme Hockey League Non-Commercial Partnership (SHL NCP) - an equivalent of 1st Division, and second strongest to the Continental Hockey League, - taking place in Moscow. The meeting agenda included the following items:
1. Election of Chairman and Secretary of the League’s Administrative Board
2. Basic clauses of the SHL draft regulations for season 2010-2011
3. Approval of the budget estimate
4. Determining the amount and order of payment of entry fees for members of the partnership.
5. Miscellaneous
Mr. Valeri Fesiuk, CEO of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, was elected Chairman of the new administrative body while Mrs. Antonina Bessonova, the acting SHL lawyer, was appointed Secretary of the League. The meeting also discussed different clauses of the SHL draft regulations to be offered to the participating clubs for consideration. In particular, a minimum capacity of the arenas was set at 2000 while minimum compulsory club budget shall amount to at least 70 million RUR. The teams shall, before 31 May 2010, present relevant documents confirming absence of any arrears or debts to RIHF or to any other creditors or entities (including arrears of players’ salaries).
SHL Budget for season 2010-2011 amounting to 70 million RUR was also approved. The clubs participating in the SHL Championship shall each pay a non-recurrent fee of 2.5 million RUR. Depending on the number of participating clubs the structure of the competition shall be determined at a later stage.
Another item of discussion was awards for prize winning teams. The winner of the competition shall be awarded SHL Champion Cup and Bratina Cup (an ancient Russian sizable dipper made of wood) of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. All three winners shall be awarded RIHF medals – according to competition regulations.
